They came from near and far on a hot Summer's Saturday evening dated 19th February 2011. A full moon shone over the Canberra Raiders/Melbourne Storm football match and down the other end of town the Moscow Circus entertained the multitudes. Despite the competition some 30 plus Brethren attended the Bega Masonic Centre to carry out the making of a Master Mason namely Bro Tim Mattsson, a member of Lodge Cooma Monaro.
The night was reminiscent of bygone days when Lodges held their meetings near a full moon so the brethren would have a moonlit road on their way home whether it be on horseback or horseless carriage. Brethren from Canberra, Cooma, Bombala, Pambula and Bega took thier places in the Bega Masonic Centre for the raising of Bro Tim with the work being carried out by members of all 5 Lodges in District 105 with the Worshipful Master of Lodge Bega Remembrance in control of the proceedings. We were also honoured by the presence of our Regional Grand Councillor, RW Bro Graham Charlton and the Region 10 Training Officer, RW Bro Hugh Davies, both from Canberra.
Candidate Bro Tim Mattsson on the left accompanied by another Fellowcraft from Cooma, Bro John Donnelly and recently raised Bro Michael Newman also from Lodge Coom Monaro. It has been quite a while since the Bega Temple has been honoured with two Fellowcraft Freemasons.
W Bro Ron Jaajaa, Worshipful Master of Lodge Cooma Monaro, congratulates his Candidate.
W Bro Ron Jaajaa, Bro Tim Mattsson and the WM of Lodge Bega Remembrance, W Bro Ray Spindler.
Regional Grand Councillor, Graham Charlton having a few words with Tim and John.
An excellent festive board followed the meeting. As you can see, it is still daylight which may seem strange for an evening Lodge. The meeting actually commenced at 5pm to give those travelling from far away a reasonably early start to the trip home. A good time was had by all.
