Freemasons of South East NSW
Eden-Monaro covers an area of approximately 29,499 sq km from Queanbeyan to South Durras in the north, south to the Victorian border, extending to the southern and eastern borders of the Australian Capital Territory.
The main towns include Adaminaby, Batemans Bay, Bega, Berridale, Bodalla, Bombala, Braidwood, Bungendore, Captains Flat, Cooma, Dalmeny, Delegate, Eden, Jindabyne, Merimbula, Moruya, Narooma, Queanbeyan, Sutton and Tathra.
Products / industries of the area include timber, beef cattle, sheep and wool, dairy farming, dairy products and mixed farming. The Snowy Mountains hydro-electric scheme, snowfields and tourism are important industries for this division. It is one of the largest electoral regions in New South Wales stretching from the snowfields of Kosciusko to the sapphire waters of the Far South Coast. It also home to 7 Masonic Lodges which meet at Masonic Centres in Cooma, Bombala, Bateman's Bay, Moruya, Bega and Pambula in what is known as District 49 from 10th September 2014. These Lodges were formerly contained in two districts, 105 and 114 under the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of NSW and ACT. See "Regions and Districts" in the main menu to the left. At the June 2016 Grand Communication it was announced that District 49 would split into two areas each with a DGIW in view of the geographical size of the total area and the time and risks taken visiting distant Lodges especially at night. The new districts are 49A in the North with 3 Lodges and 49B with 4 Lodges in the South. This change came into effect at the September 2016 Grand Communication and Proclamation.
RW Bro Terry Twyford, PJGW, passed away around 9.30am today 15th January 2019 at the Canberra Hospital in the company of his wife Helen and sons David and Andrew. He had a nasty fall around a week ago and was transported to Canberra. Terry was a long time member of Lodge Bega Remembrance and a former District Grand Inspector of Workings. He will be sadly missed.
A service will be held for Terry at 11am on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at St John’s Anglican Church, Auckland Street, Bega (Map) to be followed by a Masonic tribute at Clavering Park Crematorium, Wolumla, 128 Candelo-Wolumla Road. All masons are invited to attend either or both ceremonies.
VW Bro John Peter Williams, PDGDC, passed to the Grand Lodge above on 29 December 2018 in the presence of his four children after suffering a severe stroke three nights prior. He was a staunch member of the Mountain Lodge at Bombala, received his 60 year certificate and jewel in 2012 and recently had the grand rank of Past Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies conferred by the Grand Master. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was 92.
A Lodge of Sorrow will be held at the Bombala Masonic Centre at 2pm on 25th January. Dress will be Lounge Suits or daylight dress with Grand Officers requested to wear their regalia. This ceremony will be followed by a Memorial Service at St Matthias Anglican Church in Cardwell Street, Bombala, (Map), commencing at 3pm

24th January: 11am Funeral Service for RW Bro Terry Twyford at St John's Anglican Church, Bega followed by a Masonic Tribute at Calvering Park Crematorium, Wolumla.
25th January; Eurobodalla D/L tyling at 9.30am
25th January: 2pm Lodge of Sorrow at Bombala followed by a Memorial Service at the Bombala Anglican Church for the late VW Bro Peter Williams, PDGDC
26th January: Lodge Pambula D/L, tyling at 10am. Australia Day Trivia quiz.
1 February: Lodge Cooma Monaro yling at 7.30pm. District meeting for a 3rd degree. Grand Officers to wear regalia please.
5th February: Batemans Bay D/L tyling at 10am. 2nd degree ceremony.
12th February: Quarterly combined District meeting at Candelo Pub 6.30 for 7pm. Names ro Ron Jaajaa please.
