A travelling group of Freemasons and friends who spent time in Pambula Beach Caravan Park, worked together to raise and donate $1,000 to Pearls Place which is a Social Cafe for socially disadvantaged people. A midday meal is served every Wednesday at 12 pm at the Pambula Masonic Centre where two and three course meals are prepared by qualified chefs to around 50 or so people. The Masonic Lodge which meets at Pambula provided Pearls with a home last March following a complete renovation and upgrade of the kitchen.. It was their suggestion that Pearls be the recipient of any funds raised.
The Mobile Masons are Freemasons and their partners from all over NSW and the ACT who travel to a new destination in Australia each year. When there, they spend around $40,000 to help the local economy and they raise money for a local charity.
A few members visited Pearls Place for lunch and were impressed by the concept. Pearls Place chairperson Lousie Maud said the donation will go a long way to helping her organization.
Mobile Masons president Barry Wild presents $1000 to a very appreciative Louise Maud, chairperson of Pearls Place.
“We are really grateful that organisations like Mobile Masons can recognise what we’re doing,” she said.
“We’re so appreciative of what community groups are willing to do to help.”
