With the East Coast of New South Wales being battered with heavy rain and wind, 31 brethren assembled at Lodge Cooma Monaro to support W Bro Bill Kelly raise his son Michael. Bill was installed the previous month as Master of the Lodge and despite his brief time to prepare for the ceremony, he conducted the proceedings with expertise and feeling. There is probably no greater or more memorable moment in a Mason's career than that of raising his own son.

The District Grand Inspector of Workings, VW Bro Neil Dawson was in attendance accompanied by several Grand Officers in their evening dress and regalia to make the evening a special one for Bill and Michael. Visitors came from the Mountain Lodge, Lodge Bega Remembrance, Lodge Pambula Daylight and a visiting Brother from Tasmania.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Grand Master's Distinguished Service Award to W Bro Alf Gallina, Secretary od Lodge Pambula Daylight, for his dedicated work with elderly people.  He is a registered Carer at Imlay Nursing home where he has several residents who he visits regularly and helps with their lunches etc. This award is second only to the Carrington Medal in importance and is quite rare. Alf was quite overcome with the presentation and was virtually rendered speechless. Also quite a rare happening.

The Festive Board was held in the usual Cooma style with good humour, good food and a minimum of toasts. A great night was had by all.
